I have a haas sl-20 big bore lathe. With the chuck on the machine would screech when it would start spinning. ( It doesn't do it with the 5c collet system presumably because it is not as heavy). It sounds like a loose belt some where. But now when the spindle tries to orientate and or lock, before the live tooling engages it gives a double screech. When observing it trying to lock it would rotated past its point screech really load and then rotate back the other way to hit the orientation point and screech as well.(Not even a half of a rotation) Question is: does this sound like a belt issue or a brake pad issue. Does anyone have any information on how to tighten the belts or change brake pads, or even what is the proper code for orientating the spindle. It does look like the bake is worn a little more on the middle part of the disc as opposed to the outer portion. Any information would be great. Thx - Mike
