    pyrography art

I was trying to work out how to burn the attached image into wood using effectively a soldering iron.

My plan was to use art "trace image raster to vector" for all the different grey levels in the image. I would then use a countour toolpath with feed rate adjusted depenfing on darkness of the grey level.

So dark parts would need a slower feed rate than lighter parts of the image.

However, when making the countour tool path, clicking on all the individual chains takes an age, and the vector image that mastercam art makes isn't too good in the first place, even after lots of effort on filtering.

Does anybody have better ideas? Perhaps mastercam isn't even the best tool for this job. Let me know

Seems like more of a job for a laser engraver to me. It would be interesting to see if you could get it to work with a CNC machine and a soldering iron.
