I started looking at the Taig micro mill, planning out what parts I will need, etc. One of them probably being a drill chuck.
The option I found first was using the Taig accessories:
- (Taig 1091) 0-1/4" Jacobs drill chuck, commercial quality 3/8-24 thd.
- (Taig 1140) Drill chuck arbor (3/8-24 thread), attaches Jacobs chucks to headstock spindle. (3/8" straight shank).
Then I found these at LittleMachineShop:
- Arbor, Drill Chuck 3/8" Straight to 2JT
- Drill Chuck, 3/8", 2JT
Which (if it works), seems better than the taig option.
There are also some fancier chucks on LMS, but they are all 33JT. And the smallest straight shank to 33JT adapter I could find is 1/2" (here). Is it unreasonable to use such a large chuck on a small machine?
Are there any other options people have found?
Thank you
