    Identify this collet

Gentlemen, any help in identifying this collet would be greatly appreciated. I have a metric set and would like to find a fractional inch set for the same chuck. Thanks.

Hi, I would try US Machinetools.Com.

Give them the diam at the small end and the diam at the big end, behind the collar, and the length between the two dimensions.

Also send them a photo of the collet.

I got a mill last year and it came with some tooling.
One of the bits of tooling was a milling chuck, INT 40 taper, with one collet in it.

After trying the sizes against the ER collet system, which didn't match up, the nearest collet to it was an Ortlieb system, much like an ER system but a bit longer in the taper.

According to the spec sheet on the Ortlieb range, this collet is favoured by those in the woodworking trade.
    Hope this helps.
    Ian.
