    Reamer Question?

Any chance of a reamer handling .025"? Of course this is only .0125" on each side. I know that is a big cut, I have always went with no more than .010". Any opinions? Oh ya, cutting a soft casting. Thanks.

The more you cut, the more likely the reamer will cut oversize, and chips may score the hole. If you "peck-ream" with complete retractions, you may be able to prevent scoring the hole. I like your first impression of .010. That's comfortable, if the reamer is in the 1/4" range on up.
First you get good, then you get fast. Then grouchiness sets in.

(Note: The opinions expressed in this post are my own and are not necessarily those of CNCzone and its management)

Also depends on the size of the reamer. Get up in the 1.250-1.500 range and .025 stock removal is the norm.
