    memory card of FANUC 15MB

i tried to save the system data of FANUC 15MB with a 64M cf_card.but the screen displayed: memory card mounted error.then i use the controller to format the card.the screen displayed:executing.the processing of format lasted about for four hours.it seems like endless and then i have to turn off the controller to unplug the cf_card.i am wondering is it necessary to change the system settings. what kind of the card the 15M system can support? is 64M cf_card too big?maybe i need a 8M cf_card?
does anyone can tell me the reason?
thanks in advance for your help.

You should use a PCMIA SRAM card. DO NOT buy from Fanuc. We use a 4Mbyte size so that we don't have to swap cards during installations. We manufacture
memory upgrades for this control as well as others.

You can buy fujitsu SRAM card on eBay. 2 mb is all you need. Large ones won't read.

"You can buy fujitsu SRAM card on eBay." we have no problems with any brand, including Pretec, Seiko Epson, Mitsubishi. Pay about US$ 150 for 4 Mb.
" 2 mb is all you need." 512k is all you NEED (maximum file size); larger is more convenient.
" Large ones won't read." untrue- we have been using 4 Mb for 15 years.

are you referring to the pcmcia card? These can be used on all Fanuc controls that have slot for them, including the 21ia..

Yes. The PCMCIA card. I cant seem to get any to work. When i try to format them it says that the card is protected. If I try to write something gives me a "Memory card error 0007".

You can't use ATA pcmcia card in a 15MB, they only work on Fanuc i Series. Like Memoryman said, Buy a fujitsu Sram Card.

all pcmcia memory cards have a write protect switch; make sure it is OFF.
