Hi,

Machine is a Bridgeport Interact 1 Mk2.

Have Installed replacement Y-axis servo motor which I believe is wired correctly but upon powering up the machine and pressing the orange power button, the Large fuse (MF1) blows instantly. The trip switch for the 3 phase plug point goes also.

Would incorrect wiring cause this or is there something inside the motor shorting maybe?

Any help appreciated, more info available if required.

Try with the motor disconnected, If they still blow it is probably not the motor.

With motor disconnected the fuse doesn't blow, so pretty sure the motor is at fault. Any advice on the best people to deal with for replacement / recon SEM axis motor units? (UK based ideally)

SEM is, or was a UK company.
Either partially dismantle the motor and check the condition of the brushes and commutator and colouration of the windings to see if there is anything obvious that can be fixed, the alternative may be to take it to a motor rebuilder and get them to check it out.
If you opt to repair it yourself, it can be tested on an automotive battery before putting back in place.

Do you know how to use a meter? Could talk you through testing it.

SEM is Small Electric Motors of the UK.
Google and see what comes up on that side of the pond.
Pull out a brush and give it a sniff test. If it smells burnt, it probably is.
