Is this on a Doosan or Daewoo Mill? If so, I would guess it's on. What happens when you try to cut a helix?
The mill is called a KAFO,and it is not a doosan or a daewoo mill.Just thought somebody would know the controller.Anyways when I program it to do a thread,it just stays on the one z plain. It does spiral down like it does on our other milling centers(OKK and DAHLIH with newer FUNUC controllers).Hopefully you can help.
You might want to post this on the Fanuc forum. Be aware, that the owner of this site has forbidden the posting of Fanuc option parameters, as they are proprietary, and Fanuc has demanded they not be posted here.
Thanks , didn't realize that.Don't want to upset anyone.I'll end this thread here
"A circle is an infinite number of straight lines" - Euclid
Therefore - any three axis mill will helically interpolate (even a Fanuc control without the helical interpolation facility swithed on!!!)
It is done all the time, especially in the far east where the factory owners are too tight with money to pay for G03 / G02 and helical.
It can be done by G01 X, Y and Z departure commands.
Even taper thread milling with G01 gives very accurate results.
So nobody at Fanuc should get upset, as G01 is standard with every controller that they have ever sold.
If you need help with how to do it using spreadsheets to do the tedious calculations, please reply.
kindest regards
Fred the thread
