I posted this in the engraving forum, but thought I might try here, too!
I'm attempting to set up a PC to talk with a Dahlgren 2516i. This particular Dahlgren doesn't have a USB, just a serial port (COM1).
I'm using the Engravelab Expert 5.0 rev. 6.4, and the manual - while detailed about certain obvious things, is remarkably vague when it comes to important things.
There is no manual for the 2516i, and the online manual I've managed to find is (again) remarkably vague about connection. It does tell me what temperature the room has to be at. And the differences between the spindles (neither of which look exactly like the one I've got).
So my emergency question is: What the heck to are the settings?
I'm looking for:
Bits per second (currently at 9600)
Data bits (currently 8)
Parity (currently NONE)
Stop bits (currently 1)
Flow control (which is currently NONE; handshake makes the computer wait for DSR, NONE and X-on/x-off both give me a "Serial overrun" error on the Dahlgren).
Any help would most certainly be appreciated!
Your pal,
Meat.
