    bolting servo to ballscrew quest?

I took the z axis motor of my mill[matsuura mc500v2] to get it in the garage.
I left the shim stack on the top of the flange bolted to the ballscrew. I have
to admit I didn't take a lot of notice when I took it apart, assuming it woudljust bolt back.

Popped the servo into place and the motor flange sits a few thou clear of the surface of the servo mount! I have taken the shim stack off and made sure they are all clean, cleaned the flanges on the motor and ballscrew.

Looking at it it looks like the drive is thru the shim stack so a few thou clearanec between the shim stack and motor flange woud seem more appropriate?

Any one know about bolting the servos on?

So no replies, Al the Man your slacking..

Took all the bits off and it was quite obvious how to put it together[Well I hope so], it must have been put on wrong when I got. Thats quite bizzare, it had been serviced not long before it was taken out of service and had a new Z motor put on it. Unless they took the motor off, maybe it had to come off to be moved and they just slapped it back in place?

Ok, so I took time off for a beer

As mention, we need a liitle more info, it sounds to me like the motor could not be bolted to the flange face due to either the length of the motor-to-ballscrew coupling, or similar effect, and it was shimmed out because of this.
An inspection as to why it cannot be mounted flush should be self evident.

I assumed it would just bolt straight back on. For some reason the coupling must have been removed from the motor, I don't remember doing it. Anyway it was fairly obvious how it shoud be assembled when I had the whole thing in my hands rather than working thru a gap behind the spindle motor.

You let me down there Al;-)
