    Home made linear bearings,

i am thinking of making my own linear bearings for a CNC router i am making with my students. Would it work if i used a accurate 1" reamer and reamed out a piece of brass to run on a 1" piece of CR steel?

    thank you

Try bronze bushings (some available at home depot even) polished CR.

Reaming is iffy, depending on your setup. I'd rather bore to just under, then hone to fit (shaft may measure 1", but may be out of round.
