If it came with manuals, see if their is a generic format it accepts. Fadal, Haas etc.

Just to clarify, programs....To control the machine or to output to the machine? Also all the programs I've run across are ASCII string. Only differnce is how their are formated.

Is their website no longer current?

If nothing else, start with a Fanuc post and see what it does.

First you get good, then you get fast. Then grouchiness sets in.

(Note: The opinions expressed in this post are my own and are not necessarily those of CNCzone and its management)

Usally most programs that output code have a post processor which tells the program such as Turn Master or what not how to format the file and output it. What ever CAM package your using you should be able to edit this post processor or create a new one for your machine.

The manual you have should help you with creating the post processor.

After more digging and a few phone calls i found out this machine does not use G codes. But there might be a retro fit from Ah-ha. So this is why i got a great deal on this machine.

I have a Old Dyna 4400 mill with the same basic control. It is not G&M code compatable. It uses what Dyna calls dynalan . MasterCam has a post for this mill so maybe they have a post for the lathe, my sugestion, retrofit!!! If you are use to G&M codes then the dynalan is a nightmare. I do think that Dyna is still giving some tech support i.e. manual purchase if you call. I hope that this helps as I went thought the same thing with my mill.

    Cheers

    dm3000

I own a 3000 and a 3000H. They have been great machines. Have owned the 3000 for 18 years and the 3000H for 13 years. BUT, yesterday had a (Mistake) crash with the X axis. Now the little stepper is making a strange noise and won't move the crossslide smoothly. I believe the stepper is shot and am looking for another one. Please help!!

    Crash

Not familurew with that machine. I have a prolight.

If you can, disconnect the stepper/servo from the machine. Then tell the machine to step that axis. If the stepper still makes funny noises with no load then yeah you need a new stepper.

If not then turn the lead screw to the table and see if that is hard to move or gives you problems.

Let us know what you find out.

I realize I'm jumping into this one pretty late, but...

I have a Dyna 3000 that I use BobCad on. Their post processor (which they put together for me) does great. I can turn any shapes that I want, though I'm sticking with the built-in programs for threading because they are easy to understand. BobCad is going for a couple of hundred bucks, much cheaper than retrofitting new controllers.
