I am having problems getting my g540 to come out of fault with the charge pump switch active.

All my motors run fine, estop works great when switch is turned off inside the g540

I turn the switch on. I get a fault. got the charge pump port/pin set to port 1 and pin 16 like the set up guide said with no luck

I have estop wired to port 1 pin 15 works fine (with switch turned off)

With the charge pump active i get a fault and a external estop i cant reset?

what breakout baord are you using? I knowon the c-11g I think it has two different ways to wire the estop. In one of the schematics is speciifcally states that you have to disable the charge pump, by changing the jumpers, in order for the estop to work .
I'm still researching it, I think i did see two different ways to wire it.

Are there different BOB in the g540?


The wire diagram i read just show pin 10 to estop to ground or pin 12 on the gecko.(Pins on front of gekco unit)

And charge pump at port im using (port 1) pin 16. (pin in db25 parallel)

Is your parallel port set to EPP in your computer bios?

I havnt tryed the xml file. ill try and find out.

The parallel is a add on pci card. it says epp compatable.
There is no option to change in bios since there is no onboard port.

Have you tried to enable EPP in the Device Manager settings for your Parallel Port?

If you use the xml file you will have to change the port address if you use the add on PCI card.
To find out what the port address is go to
Start>control panel>system>hardware>device mamager>comm/lpt ports>resources

i have the same problem
my g540 works fine when using built in motherboard lpt.
i cant get it to work with pci lpt added cart. i changed adresses and i can see with voltmeter it gives signals dir and step and charge pump is 2.5 volts and 0volts when chargepump is off, but gecko doesnt turn on. with xylotex board added pci lpt card works fine.

You can change the parallel port mode in your computer's BIOS for the motherboard LPT1. With an add-in card with parallel port connector you may have to use a program on the CD that was supplied with the card or maybe there is a jumper on the card that will do it. The Device "Mangler" only shows you the memory addresses for the add-in card that you need to put in Mach3 Ports and Pins.

My Creative I/O PCI Multi I/O Controller card shows up in Device Manager as LPT3, starting addresses DC00 and D880. It is communicating with my C11G to display status in Mach3 Diagnostics screen. I have not tried to change the mode since it is working.

I just now looked in the installation CD folder for the MosChip MCS9865 device driver that is on the I/O card and there is a PDF file that says that this chip automatically sets the parallel port mode by handshaking with the device that it is connected to.

Edit: If you uninstall then reinstall the driver for your parallel port I/O card you should then get a chance to change mode assignments manually even if your card uses auto-configuration.

Hi,

You may find that is a config setting in Mach3.

Check and see that you have the "ChargePump On in EStop" checkbox ticked in the Mach3 General Config settings tab.

Maybe I wasn't clear enough in my 5th bullet point stating "pump on e-stop".
What I should have said was "charge pump on in e-stop" is checked within the mach3 general config.

I should probably be more specific I guess.
