    Distorted engraving and cutting

    Our JMU3060 . Newlydraw 1.5
    makes strange pictures.
sometimes it does this , sometimes not

    example:

it also engraves and cuts double
sometimes with , sometimes without distortion

I would guess that it isn't the software. It looks to me that the machine is loosing steps. I believe that you can go into the preferences or settings and change the speed that you are cutting at. I think that if you slow it down a bit you can take care of that problem.

Another thing that you can look into is the machine itself. With it turned off do all the axis move relatively smooth, with out binding? If not you may have an alignment issue or may need to clean the rails up a bit.

I agree, it looks mechanical. The guitar image does appear to be caused by lost steps, either from mechanical binding or excess speed.

The max speeds I use are 2 for 'cut' and 12 for engrave, any more and it will begin to lose steps.

The other image is more difficult to determine a cause, but could be from the same issue or a loose mirror / lens. I would also confirm the beam is adjusted as close to center as possible at the travel extents (top left and bottom right - looking at the machine).

Have you confirmed the beam is centered in the mirrors and the lens?

It looks from this latest picture like the beam is being reflected off the edge and causing the distorted line / reflection. You also seem to lose power at the corner which could indicate the beam is no longer aligned. It is important that the beam is parallel to the axis, you need to check the alignment does not change as you move the head around the table.

Alignment should not change once set, unless a mirror mount is loose but it is simple to check.

While you have the motors disconnected check if the axis movement is smooth and also ensure the Z-assembly does not have excess 'play'.
