Hello, we have a c40 that is taking a nap as it overtravelled in the Z-axis and we can't figure out how to free it.
Message
MC LIMIT SWITCH Z+
We are also getting a break test not performed message.
Any help appreciated

Look to see if you have a OT bypass or release button. You usually have to hold the button in and move the axis off the limit switch using the hand wheel if you have one. You should then be able to rest the alarm.
You also may have a swith that is stuck.
Stevo
There are no limit switches just hit the CE key.
As for the "break test" there is a soft key in manual mode that you have to hit periodically.
Thanks for all the help but this issue required unpublished information from Hermle.
We had to increase the hard-coded allowable travel on the machine, wind it down a bit and set the allowable travel back to it's default.
This info is not given out as people have tried to artificially increase their travel by changing these numbers and have caused damage.
cheers

this thread is old.. but the C40U is a fine machine. Fast and holds tenthousandths all day. My former employer had 2 of them.
