You say "unlimited number of simultaneous communications with CNC's", how do you get around the operating system limitation of 256 COM ports?

    Limitation of Ports

    1) A virtual serial port is an emulation of the standard serial port. This port is created by software which enable extra serial ports in an operating system without additional hardware installation (such as expansion cards, etc.). Unlike a physical serial port the virtual one can be assigned any name (COM255, VSP33, etc.). It is possible to create unlimited number of virtual serial ports in your PC. The only limitation is the computer performance, as it may require a substantial amount of resources to emulate large numbers of serial ports.

    2) We do also have a driver for IP based communication with external serial servers, no RS232 needed at all (see picture)

    CNCnet DNC

    All,
as there are lots of questions about cabling here I've added typical cable contruction examples that should fit to 99% of all CNC's. Be aware that there are some older control types (e.g. Heidenhain) that require straight, not crossover wiring as the SEND / RECEIVE and Handshake wires are already crossed over inside the control.
This Wiring instructions are also applicable to other DNC software.

P.S.: Can also be found at the end of the operators manual (download):
