data server 16mc okk graphite mill

Could someone explain to me exactly how the data server and the network are supposed to communicate? I just got a second hand okk graphite mill with a 16mc control and a data server. I plugged it to the network and am missing something with regards to making it communicate. I have entered the ip address to the control... should this be the ip address of the computer? It asks for a directory as well, what format would that be? "D:\" where would I get the ":" key?

data server = ftp but now how do i...

How do I get colon ":" in the directory name on the fanuc 16-m control. I found where "string" should bring up special characters but it doesn't. The manual I found refers to param 0931-0935 as ascii for special characters... they don't seem to exist. the machine was built in 2000.

The directory name should read "c:/okk"

I have the ftp software up on the pc

I have the name of the machine and password matching for each.

I got this figures out, there were a few things I was missing. Where the control was asking for a directory it was referring to a sub directory within the folder that the FTP software is setup to use, this was to be left blank if pulling from that directory.

As for the colon ":" it was done by with use of substitutional characters in the parameter settings 0911-0916 using the ascii code. it was done as follows

set the ascii code for the @ symbol in param 0915
set the ascii code for the : symbol in param 0916
then type the @ in the string where the : is needed.
