    Aluminum is anodized.
    Steel is Black Oxide.

I just order this guys book on how to anodize at home. Hopefully will get it in a couple of days. Seems to be a good site.

Lol, why don't I just send you all my internet links!

If you use it, let me know the results please - I am interested in their annodising kits too, but don't fancy having acid in the garage!

Another thing with this chemical is if you have a shop wipe or paper towel saturated with it laying around in close proximity to bare steel you will get a good dose of the original oxide finish, rust

Check out www.blackfast.com They are in England... I use to use it on the parts I was making and I friend of mine uses it for the tools he repairs. My friend has tried other kinds but likes the blackfast the best.
