    Z Axis Lift

I have almost finished the design of my 1st CNC and came up wondering:

On the Z axis, the router alone is about 12 Lbs, then add the MDF, rails, bearings, nuts and bolts and this lift can easily approach 30 Lbs or more.

What is the max lift those 280-8 stepper motors can lift?

Depends on how your doing the lifting. With 1/2-10 acme, 200 oz-in of torque can lift over 300lbs.

Keep in mind, that at high speeds, you may have very little torque left. And when lifting rapidly, your fighting gravity, so the load is much heavier.

    Hey Nick

you already starting on the design? I thought that was a long term project

My offer for coffee and chat is still on the table. I started my build today, got started on the Z axis "column" - hope to finish it over the weekend
