    Cool Siemens 840C control

We have a new to us machine with this control on it. While the install
was not without issues, we have it up and running. The problem
being that the sub programs are not in the control for some reason.
Example: While programming a drilling cycle it gets to the G84 code
and tells you "not found". We have talked to a 840C familiar person,
but after looking in the control where he said to look, there are no
sub programs/canned cycles or anything in there????
Is it possible that these were deleted by another operator? I know most other
controls and machines one can not directly delete such items from the control
through normal use of the keyboard. Is it possible to re enter these without
having the back up disc ran. Main problem is that the only reader that I know
that works is in Canada and would require us to fly him down here to use it.
He is also unsure as to the fact that running the back up tape will fix the problem with the sub programs.
    thanks,
    Art

Have you got the manuals for this control.I`ve always found the Siemens manuals to be very thorough and understandable.
In the UK Siemens have free technical support for all their products, have you asked them?

We managed to write some sub programs and use them for drilling and
tapping. The tapping one, we had to lie to the thing some. When it got
to the bottom of the hole, spindle would stop, then reverse but would not
feed out. We had to put a fake rapid in there telling it to rapid to the same
position it was at and then feed out. Looks like it will work now. I also got an
email with some good info on where the machine has the cycles. It appears
that upon boot up that they are not in the STANDARD window anymore.
Have not looked again this morning for them yet.
