Microstep Resolution plus lead screws to config in mach3...

I am currently running at 1/8 resolution, but would like to switch to 1/32. I am also running 1/2 - 10 acme lead screw. I cannot remember how I figured it out for the 1/8 setting on the driver... It is a keling 4030 driver. I believe it is for the "steps per" in the mach3 controller... I also know at 1/32, dip switches need to be at 0-1-0, at dips 1,2, and 3...

    Thanks!

    Rob27,

    200 X 32 = 6400 X 10 = 64000 per inch

You may swamp Mach3 depending on how fast your CPU is.

If your CPU does not have enough processing power it wont be able to keep up with the high pulse rates.

It is actually a combination of steps per and motor rpm that will do it in.

Make sure you adjust the kernel speed high enough to support your desired
    "steps per".

Thanks for the reply. I am using a refurbished computer without any issues. I have a perfect pulse rate in mach3 without any noise. Not sure what the computer specs are, pretty basic I think... I will try 1/16 resolution, and see how that does...

If only I thought about it a little more, I should have chosen a lead screw with a greater pitch and more starts...

I will try at 3200 per inch.

I dont know if you remember me, you called me to help me get my motors running. I am about 5 hours north of you... Out of curiosity, have you made a machine using servo motors and plc inputs?

    Rob,

We have several CNC machines running servo's, we do not use PLC's on any of them.
