    Help: updating 2.2 ->2.3

    I'm trying to update emc2 2.2.8 to 2.3.x on Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy heron

    If I run emc2-install.sh fails - suggesting 'manually run dpkg' scrolling up the terminal windows show a failure at the beginning of the script - sudo unable to resolve host Axis [Axis is the name of the machine]

    I'm very much a linux newbie (and to be honest, I hate its cryptic processes) so please be patient.
    Code:
    bill@Axis:~$ '/home/bill/Desktop/emc2-install.sh'
    sudo: unable to resolve host Axisgpg: requesting key 8F374FEF from hkp server pgpkeys.mit.edu
    gpg: key 8F374FEF: "EMC Archive Signing Key " not changed
    gpg: Total number processed: 1
    gpg:              unchanged: 1
    sudo: unable to resolve host Axis
    OK
    sudo: unable to resolve host Axis

    When I run System/Administration/Synaptic Package Manager I get the dpkg error (which cannot be copied and pasted !!!!) saying something like dpkg has been interrupted run dpkg --configure -a manually to correct problem.

    When I try to run this in a terminal I get: you need superuser privileges to run....

    I'm sure the package manager was working recently, since I added linux.org to the list. There was a bunch of ubuntu updates applied just prior to my attempts to upgrade (all except a wine update installed OK) could this be the problem?

    Success

    Managed to run dpkg (remembered what sudo command was :0). There was an update pending/unfinished. Once this had time to do whatever it was doing, I modified the package info from 2.2 to 2.3 and ran the updater.

    So now i have 2.3.1

    Thanks for your help Sam.
