    Smile Fanuc OMC DNC

I have a VMC equipped with Fanuc OMC cnc, I am running on DNC this machine, although it is working but axis are in jerking movement (Commanded feed is 4000 but actual feed is 900 approx.) while axis are interpolating (Contouring). Even I had checked it's mechanical part but it's ok. I think cnc is reading nc file from pc but machine is not responding well. kindly help me out from this problem.
    DNC parameters are as follows:
    Baudrate 9600
    Data bit 7
    Stop bit 2
    Parity even
    handshaking software (Xon/off)
Is it a problem of handshaking?
    or CNC system?
    Please help me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Turn the feedrate down on the machine and see if that makes any changes...

If you break your program up into small chunks to get it into the memory, you can test the programming of the program itself. Yes, it's going to require putting multiple chunks of the program into the memory, but you can prove out the DNC mode and speeds.

If that works, then you know you're not sending the program fast enough into the control while DNC'ing and the machine is starving for data...

    Fanuc OMC

    rai,
for the Fanuc you should also check the cables, you can find the correct costruction on page 60 of the CNCnet DNC Operator manual (also applies to other DNC Software):

If the machine is communicating, then it's not a cable issue. Just FYI...

The wiring of that cable could change from software to hardware flow control, if the control support it.

    Hello Rai,

The varied responses indicate that you could have benefitted by adding some clarification (responses) to the guys who offered suggestions.

All of the folks who help, like to get some feedback, and it helps us to understand the problem better to help you and otherin the future!!

Please keep that in mind and asnwer my following questions.

If you already found a solution... Please post it so everyone can know it's closed and what the solution was!!

    End of Pseudo Rant.....

    Rai,

At the Baud rate you are using (9600) you may be starving the machine for Data.

I have some questions to ask you to clarify the problem, (for me and anyone else).

    1. What is the Software you are using to send the DNC File to your CNC?

    2. What is the wiring Pinout of your communications cable?

2b. How long is your communication Cable?

    3. Does your Control have a PCMCIA card slot to one side of the CRT/LCD?

    4. As asked earlier, can you load into memory a small part of your program and run it at the programmed feeds?

    5. How large is the DNC Program?

    6. Is it made up of Very Many lines with Very Small Moves (Less than 1 millimeter per axis?

    7. Does your machine have the Option "G08 Look Ahead Control?
go to MDI Mode and enter G08 P1; input and press cycle start.
If you get an Alarm P/S 010 Improper g-code, then you do not have this option.

    8. can you pm me with your e-mail address and Phone #?

    thx
