The main SIMM socket broke on the motherboard and instead of trying to fix I was thinking of replacing it with a newer Board its a 486 - 66Mhz running Unix and Quote V 1.6.4.8. Is it possible to replace this board with something newer?
Thanks
Geoff

ouch! sorry dont know the answer to that but interested to know how it broke?
i have a 321
i know of a couple of controllers for sale if you get stuck 481 model
A "IT" guy that probably wasn't even born at the time the board was made thought he would make things work faster by adding more memory and accidentally broke one side of the socket. Not sure what number the controller is but I did take a quick picture. Does that look like the same controller you are talking about. What are the controllers worth??
Thanks
Geoff
sitting down??? controller second hand complete roughly £4000!
i know better vacuum cups have broken a machine. they have a pdf of parts available on their site.
also. fastmachineryrepair on ebay. based in us has one which he may part out.
controller should say rt481 or rt480 on front near screen. black and white is rt481.
i bought extra ram but it makes no difference to speed unlike a pc.
if it works dont fix it as the saying goes!
