Hello,

While looking for telescoping brass tubes I found this forum and some of you guys will probably be able to help me better than any automated web search! :-)

I'm trying to learn how to make traditionnal Irish wooden flutes, which is a machinist challenge in itself. (See P.S. for those interested)

But these days the inside of the heads of these traditional flutes (the part where we blow into) is lined with telescoping brass tubes to let the player tune his instrument.

So I'm looking for telescoping brass tubes of very specific i.d. dimensions (in the 18mm range, 20cm long), and I haven't been able to find a shop/store so far.

Can anyone here help me find such a shop? And one that will ship to Canada?

P.S. For those that don't know what the machinist"s challenge is in flute making, here it is in a few words: the central part of the flute is about 33 cm long, and has a non-regular conical bore that start at 18.1mm and ends at 12.5mm. Once you've measured/designed your reamer, one challenge remains: you have to bore a perfectly straight, 33cm deep, 12mm wide hole into very hard wood. I've managed to make curved holes even with a gun-drill! :-D
