    Caps Installed Wrong Please HELP

I have Built the Discrete Unipolar Stepper Driver Board And the 4 axis BOB
that is posted in the open board section. My problem is I installed the polarised capacitors wrong (+ to Ground And - to Postive) and applied 12V DC Power to each.
What kind of damage could I have done? Can I reverse the caps and be ok or are they trash. :violin:

I am not familiar with that driver board or circuit but I do work with electronics. What kind of capacitors were they or did you hear the infamous sizzle, sizzle, fry, smoke?

Sometimes the smaller voltage ratings can be a bit more forgiving, if they did not get hot or show any outward signs you may be OK, I would remove them and put the proper 12vdc across them and monitor them for warm up etc. If the are high capacity, remove the power and put a high impedance VOM across them set to voltage range, there should be a slow decay of voltage to zero.

They are 10uf Digikey#P11250-ND No smoke or fry. I am going to remove them and rotate. and check them as AL suggested.
    Thanks!

    jockey,
Replace them, it isn't worth the hassle. They might work, might work for a while then fail, hard telling. If you have questions on the open source boards please post them on the open source controller board forum, that way others in the future can benefit form the question and answer.
