just before i go ahead is there anyway to take the z axis coupler out without having to takeout the z axis ballscrew the coupler has snapped and i need to change it but i cant see how i could do it without taking the screw out.

I can not say with certainty, but if I remember correctly, and if the X4 is similar to the SX3, if you take the top limiter of the Z axis (the black forged piece at the top of the Z screw) and free the bearings at the bottom you may get enough wiggle room.
