The board I want to make uses 2 Atmega48 chips in DIP (.3) format and some other supporting pieces on a single sided PCB. Very low power consumption so my traces do not need to carry much current. I'm using Eagle and I see that the VIAs can be 3 shapes, square, octal and round with a size attribute as well. What are the most common size and shape when making an Eagle board with the thought of exporting gcode using PCB-Gcode? Does wire size affect the final product?
I routed one board last evening using the default settings in the tutorial from this site, pminmo.com. The board turned out really nice, exactly what I had in Eagle but the pads are a little small to solder to because I used .04 size. I'm going to redo the brd with different pad sizes because I noticed there is a lot of copper left between the pins on the DIPs. I would rather this copper be on the pin side and not the waste side if you know what I mean.
Thanks again guys for your knowledge and experience on this.
