Adding Rigid Tapping to BP Conversion

So I've had my Bridgeport Converted for about 6 months now and LOVE it. I would like to add rigid tapping, is it hard? I've heard I can do it without adding a servo to the spindle, how is this done? Can I use regular taps for rigid tapping and just chuck them in my drill chuck or R8 collet?

    Arrow This is one option.

Check out Elrod Machine's Rigid tapping.

Biggest issue with BP type heads is there is no easy way to fit a spindle encoder.
