I will have to mill off some part of HSS 1/2 x 1/2 square bar to make it fit for my needs by about 0.1-0.2" I plan on using 1" indexable facemill to do that. Any ballparks on reasonable feeds and sppeed and DOC for a small milling machine?

Maybe around 800 RPM 5 to 10 ipm.
DOC, hard to say.
Hardened? Surface Grinder!
Is this a lathe bit? If it is, it's going to be VERY difficult to cut on a mill.
Get a 3/8 bull nose end mill with 0.06 rads, YG X-Power are resonably good and inexpensive.
Spin at about 250 to 350 SFM.
Feed at about 0.002 IPF.
Run dry with maybe just a little air blast to get rid of the chips.
Use it like a face mill taking about 0.005 deep cuts.
Hi , I had to mill a 6mm af hex broach tool, down to 3mm, a couple of weeks ago.
I used an Iscar multi-master 4 flute endmill with 1mm corner rad, grade IC908 (I think).
speed was 10m/min
feed was 0.02mm/tooth
DoC was 0.2mm
This worked beautiful, but took a long time! I was fortunate to have a nice rigid machine. The cutter still looked new when finished, and I went on to use it on some aluminium parts.
good luck
I plunge out broken HSS taps all the time. I use old reground endmills. They work remarkably well. Say .5 dia endmill 100 cs .002 ipm.
