Mach 2 on old machine = great machine

I have an old home built small router that I had been running on some other DOS software, well last night I decided to see how it would run on Mach2. Plus I would get some good practice with Mach 2 for when I get my new bigger router done. WOW that old machine has never run so good. I think I'm going to keep it around now and use it for small stuff. I took me a whopping 15 minutes to get Mach 2 configured and the steppers tuned and had it running. Nice software!! Ron

How old, ie computer specs? I'll be trying it shortly on an older HP P3 500mHz unit and am a little worried about it. Would also like to know if it will run on P2 400mHz unit. Thinking about it for a minute, I would really like to see a list/survey of machines that will run Mach 1/2/3.

Current versions of Mach2 supposedly have a lower limit of around 500Mhz. If you need a faster pulse train than 25Khz, you'll probably need at least 1 Ghz or faster. I've heard that Mach2 V4 would run on 300Mhz PC's.

You know it is great to use that old iron. But with the price of a discount online shop like newegg.com, it is hardly worth the extra effort to keep the old stuff going. I picked up a 1.8 Ghz Duron and a Mother board from Fry's Electronics for $79 bucks, Some cheap memory and your in business with the old HD, CD and floppy.

I probably have 6 or 8 PIII 750/100's that would run at 133, in effect be a 1 gHz PIII I would be willing to dump for cheap. Ebay or pricewatch.com has Socket 370 MB's cheap as chips.

Anyone have issues running Mach3 with AMD processors?
Specifically the Sempron and Athlon64 based machines?
