    X2 extended X and Y axis

So Have come to realize that I need more X and Y axis travel to cut some of the parts I need. I have been looking at Hoss's extensions but I am wondering is there another way, or would you guys suggest the same thing Hoss has done?

Asammons monster build would only run about $600 all together, just have to be patient waiting on the table from china.

WOAH thats a bit much lol. I was looking at the cost of the Z Axis as an extension and the Y axis from LMS, and looks like a more cost effective way to go. Do you have any problems with it?

    No problems at all.
His is pretty huge but less work especially if you luck out like he did and get it all in one piece with screws.
I put together a cost list for my conversion, it's cheaper with more overall work area but more work.

Speaking of the X-Axis, search for aluminum drops on eBay (Fortal). Got all my pieces for $25 shipped and they were all really close in size to what I needed. If you have a CNC fusion kit, make sure you get two blocks to go inside of the LMS column since things mount a bit differently. It makes it a huge PITA but I am about 75% now. Oh that and make sure you don't grab the wrong drill bit for the tap size. Doh! One size up here I come.

Here's another X2 conversion that might suit.

Good catch, Rod started another conversion similar to that one since he sold the first one.
Still a work in progress I believe.
Would like to find those tables here in the US.

Well I kind of wish now that I would have held off on the Z-column. I got 3 solid 7075-T651 aluminum bars 2.5"X3"X120" for free and now I might just cut my own X-axis bed.

I see a lot of people doing these conversions and I don't get it... Why not spend your time and money on a larger machine?

Some of these projects are quite involved and pricey.

Because it is much cheaper than getting and cncing a large machine.
You get the big travels and save hundreds or thousands of dollars.
Some don't need to run big tools, just need to make big parts.
I have Tormach sized travels at $4500 less than a Tormach.

Call them quick, you might be able to cancel.
