    getting STL files into Mach3

What is the least expensive way to get STL files into Mach3 for routing. I found a nice free design on cnc4free.org web site but it is in STL format. I have access to AutoCAD 2008 but it does not open STL files without a plugin. Is there another way to get from point A to B without spending a pile of money?

    Freemill from Mecsoft is free.

MeshCAM and Cut3D are the least expensive options if you want something better than Freemill.

STLWork2 IMSERV (They're on the CNCZone I recall). May still have a demo available. Less than $100 (again as I recall). It has some built in tools - and you can specify your own, will do slabbing, xy or waterline cuts too. You can save as a roughing pass - or finish. It imports you stl file, you specify the shapee of the material you're using, tool etc -- then generate Gcode.

Not a rep - just a satisified customer.

    Cheers - Jim

PS -- they frequently bundle some other sw with it so look for accutrans - or rasterfratz with it. Read all about it on their webpage. You google it - bye.
Experience is the BEST Teacher. Is that why it usually arrives in a shower of sparks, flash of light, loud bang, a cloud of smoke, AND -- a BILL to pay? You usually get it -- just after you need it.
