    touch probe/Z0 setting block advice

Hi, I want to make a probe or touch block to set the tool offsets in mach 3 for my cnc router. From what I can understand there are 2 different types that I have seen??

Firstly the spring loaded sensor type which if I assume you attach to the machine bed and it sets the tool offsets relative to tool number 1/master tool?

Second type I have seen is just a simple contact block/plate or 'puck' of a certain thickness which I am thinking is good for setting each tool individually without having to bring the tool down on top of the work.

It has a kress spindle on the machine so the tools do not have seperate fixed holders just a removable collet clamp. Would the 1st probe type then be no good for what I want?

    any advice much appreciated

What is the make/model of that spring loaded unit you show?

Did you ever get any further info to your question?

    Regards,
    Frank
