    work offsets

    i have a bridgeport torq cut 30 with a dx32 control running with a subplate. the question i have is what is the best way to set work offsets i do not have alot of machine expeirience so leahmans terms would be nice right now everything is set off the TLO with a gage block and i want to set the g54-59 to the 6 different stock sizes we run

    I set my Z datum to the top of the vise base where material will sit. Then, offset the Z axis in your part program. For example, lets say I am machining 1/2" thick material sitting on 1.5" high parallels. I offset the Z axis 2" before the first tool change. Then G96 offset cancel just before M2/M22.
