    A2100 Power Supply Malfunction

We have a Cincinnati Falcon lathe with an A2100 control that has given us a 'Power Supply Malfunction' error a few times in the past few days.

    System Fail 8004E:
    Power Supply Failure
Cause: There appears to have been a malfunction of the power supply for the control system, casuing the Realtime Processor to reset and restart.

Does this mean the power supply in the Vickers Computer, or the 24v power supply that runs the relays and opto-isolators?

    Thanks,
    Benjamin Jennings

I believe it's referring to the PC power supply in the A2100. Those were pretty cheap Taiwanese units (but they passed regression testing, when some other cheapies didn't). It's an off-the-shelf PC supply. Take it to your local computer supply house and have them match it up.

The A2100 boots just fine with no other power supplies connected, so the system fail must be coming from the PC P/S failure.

That was what I'd suspected, the lathe is on it's 3rd or 4th power supply now, the other ones all exibited different failure modes, but this is the first one I've seen where the control actually complained about it.

    Thanks,
