I have mastercam 9. I knew a guy a few years ago that used to scan in peoples written names and engrave them using mastercam. I have an 1800's flat document that I need to engrave into a project that I am working on. How can I do this?

You would get better responses in the mastercam section
But,
in V9, you have to be able to get lines and arcs ( some say vectors ) onto the screen ( you may need odditional software- not sure )
You then select these entities, define a tool ( taper is the normal selected tool, but it is your choice ) and to make the tool follow them , cutter compensation is OFF, you select the top of stock and the depth settings and you're off and going
PS. I forgot to add that "lead in / outs" turned OFF, and XY offset to zero
You can use Inkscape (free) to open the image, the I forget where or who, but if you search for a dxf add-in for inkscape there is one that works very well. then you can improt a dxf into mastercam.
