Question about limit and home switches

    Hi all,

I wonder if it's possible to use limit switches as home switches?
I have 6 switches: 2 for each axis. Is it not possible to have some kind of macro that when you want to home the machine to have a button on mach3? I'm thinking to start let's say on x direction until it hits the limit switch, then backup (say ~1/4") to reset the limit switch. This will be the home for x. Now continue with y and z in the same manner. I don't feel like to add 3 more switches (1 per axis) and have another 6 wires on my controller. I like it simple if possible.

Thank you in advance for your answer.

Would that then look somthing like this? I will have my home and limit switch to be the same in the "+" direction. Should I also use the soft limit with this configuration? In that case how should it then be set up so that I never run out on my limit, but in the same time can use it/them for homing my mashine?
