What year did Mori Seiki start using, and with what models the ceramic spindle liner in their machining centers..also when did they stop? Also has anyone had success in repairing or rebuilding them especially with a steel insert? Thanks!

Mv40 was the most common. Stopped around 94, but no hard cutoff date im aware of. I personally have had several rebuilt at CM with steel liners. Unfortunately not a easy DIY as i believe they strip the spindle down and sweat in the new insert, re grind the bearing area, new bearings then grind the taper in for as close as they can get to zero run out. Last time i had it done was around 8K.

Thanks! Great information to know. Wow, expensive...I thought a new spindle was about 10K, but you end up with the same problem again a few years down the road, not so with a steel liner. Thanks again!
Great to finally find someone who uses a MV-40 as well. our ceramic spindle liners is chipped and cracked. is there no replacement for this part then? as in a bolt in replaceable part?
value any info i can get on this.
