    stepper speeding up and stalling??

hello ive got 3 pci sci single stack steppers "pretty comon" im runing a xylon board in 1/8 micro stepping mode and motors are wired bi pollor parel,i have a p2 233 lap top running ezcnc,i didnt know about the x8 numbers for the micro stepping and had my 1/4-20 leads set at 4000 spi and every thing ran fast and good other then size issuse??but i could tranvers the axes fast, when i changed to 32000 spi the motor will ramp up and then stop and humm and as it ramps down start spinning again.if i ajst my feed rates way down i dont have this problem but ?i was able to work it when i had the wrong step count much faster,i tryed the steppers with no load ie disconnected so its not a torq isue, they still stop, could it be my computer cant keep up, or the magnetic flux is to hight at that rate, or?? do i just need to drop to 1/2 stepping mode to get my speed back?thx any help would be great

It sounds like EZCNC can't output steps fast enough. Try adjusting your acceleration.

If your motors are humming with no motion, it means that your stepping pulses are sent faster than the motors could move.

Another possibility is that the program is not spacing the step pulses evenly. Try using Mach2.
