Red face Laser engraving machine doesn't work

    Hi everybody,
I bought a CO2 engraving laser machine in China. It's a very beautiful new machine... but it doesn't work.
First, I found that the electricity is runing through the box of the laser power supply, that made my circuit breaker stopped. So I put the laser power supply out of its box. And there is no more problem with electricity.

But... Because there is always a "but"... :tired:When I turn on the power of my engraving machine, the lens is moving to the left side of the cabinet, the work table could go up and down, the light is lighting, the exhausted fan, etc... are working... Great! But the laser tube doesn't light, doesn't work.
I look on my laser power supply, and I see that its fan doesn't move and that its little red light is not lighting. I'm sure that the laser tube is not working (that means I can't engrave anything). When I turned the button of the ampermeter of the machine, the pointer doesn't move. And if I try to make an engraving test, nothing happens.:drowning:

Do you have any good idea about why it doesn't work?
I thought that it is perhaps the laser tube is dead (but it is new)... Is it possible? Or does it come from the laser power supply (which is normally new)?
What kind of tests could I do to find the problem?
Thank you very much for your help!

I have the same problem everything works but the laser and the fan in power supply

I had attached a manual, please check them.

I have both PCI and USB machine's laser power test video, but they are too big, can not be upload.

If somebody interested, i can send to you by e-mail.
    my e-mail: [email protected]

Are you focus lens and reflect mirror no broken, laser reflect route normally,
water circulate well, water protect well, and mainboard and connection board connect well? these will effect laser ray too.

Smile My problem is solved, but maybe it can help

    Hi everybody,
I'm so happy because two months after I got the machine, it finally works... :wee:

Xzoom: are you sure that there is only the fan of your laser power supply that it doesn't work? First, what you can do is to check if the fuse on the green card of your laser power supply is ok. If you have a voltmeter, you put one pin on one side of the fuse, the other on the other side of the fuse and check if power is crossing it... One of the problem of my laser power supply was that the fuse seemed to be ok, but it wasn't... An other problem was that there was a leak of current inside it, and that's why my circuit breaker stopped all the time the electricity. The card was in touch with the box which surrounded it. :withstupi
Well: if you haven't problem with the power but if that the fan of your laser power supply is not working, it could be because of the fuse.

For the laser itself: cicigweike was right. My water pump was working, but the water didn't cross the laser tube. I have to tinker the pipe which lead to the laser tube, and after that, I saw for the first time the light inside the tube! You can't imagine my relief!!!

Thanks to Cicigweike for his answer and for his help!

Hope that what I've said could help you, xzoom.

I cross my finger and I pray so that my problems are ended... But now I have to adjust the beam of the laser, and it's another story...

WELL I NOTICE MANY LASER PROBLEMS REGARDING POWER HAVE SIMILARITIES
CNC WORKS PERFECT BUT LASER DO NOT FIRE
I CHECK FOR POWER GOING IN TO POWER SUPPLY AND IS OK
MY MACHINE WAS WORKING PERFECT SINCE I GOT IT 4 MONTHS AGO
THEN YESTERDAY MORNING WHEN I TURN IT ON DID SOME SHORT CIRCUIT NOISE PBFFFF
THE CHILLER WORKS BUT I GET NO SIGNAL FROM IT
SO I DONT KNOW IF JUST CLOSE THE CIRCUIT OR SEND SOME VOLTAGE TO THE POWER SUPPLY
HOW DO YOU KNOW IF YOUR POWER SUPPLY NEED TO BE REPLACED?
    SECOND DAY WITHOUT MY LASER
    STILL OPTIMIST
    THANKS GUYS

    Perhaps...

    Hi xzoom,
I'm really not a specialist... The engraving machine I have is a JSM3040U.

The laser power supply is really esay to take out of the machine.
I don't know if you feel at ease with electricity... The thing I would do if I were you is that: first, I will have a look inside my laser power supply to see if its fuse is allright or not. Then, if it's allright, I will take the laser power supply out of the engraving machine (it's very esay to disconnect it from all the cables), and try to test it directly with a wire outside. If the fan is running, etc, it's not a problem of your laser power supply. You told that the chiller works... But all the parts of the engraving machine are not connected to the laser power supply. Only the laser tube depends on it.

Perhaps, you could have a look directly to the laser tube too. Test with the multimeter if the power is crossing it (not when it is working or connected, just directly the two side of the tube). I don't know when we have to change the laser tube, but after 4 months, I think it's too early. If your laser engraving machine was new, perhaps you could contact your supplier. Ours was really helpful...

Be patient, things will get better!!

    MPC03-LV HAS 4 LEDS
1 IS ON ALL THE TIME
    3 AND 4 ARE X AND Y AXIS
    WHAT ABOUT #2?
    anybody?

If laser machine don't have laser ray, you should check is it laser tube have any broken (may be very small broken at inner, that can not see by eyes), you can change a new laser tube test.

if laser tube no problem, you should check laser power and other parts
    1. use galvanometry test 3+4, if shows "0" that means safety switch and water protect no problem. If shows not "0", that means safety switch and water protect have some problem.
    2. short circuit 2+4, if machine have light, that means laser power no problem.
if no laser light, that means laser power have problem.

    MONDAY MORNING
    THANKS FOR QUICK ANSWER
    SAFETY SWICH OK
NOW 2 AND 4 NOTHING HAPPENS
BUT MY POWER UNIT DOSENT HAVE ANY LIGHT BULB
    NUMBER TWO WILL BE TTL
ANY WAY TO FIRE LASER MANUALLY?
    I KEEP TRYING

  12. #12
If you make sure laser tube do not have any broken and water protect no problem.

short circuit 2+4 and no laser ray, that shows laser power have problem.
(your laser power do not have any red light bulb, the fan not working )

If your machine not pass the 1 year guarantee time, you can let the machine manufacture send you a new laser power for free and they paid the courier freight charge.

    hello Cici
    i got my machine used
    dont know about warranties
no light bulbe in my power supply
how can I check power supply? alone
    thanks

  14. #14
I do not know other easier ways to check laser power alone.
Our video is the easiest way for test.

Another way is a little trouble:
    1. short circuit 3+4
    2.black wire-Ammeter(galvanometer)-black wire-schamotte(cement resistor)
    -red wire
make sure the schamotte is 100w 50/20KΩ
    3. press the "laser/test button" of the operation panel.
4.check the ammeter, if the ammeter finger move--laser tube have problem
    not move-laser power have problem
