I've gotten my new to me Haas VF1 up and running with its new keypad and everything works as it should.... Well... Except for the spindle. I've pretty much determined that the MagneTek GPD 503 drive is out. I've got a factory GPD manual and in it's diagnostics chart it asks: "Is charge light on?" Yes, yes it is... Then it asks: "Is display active/on?" No, no it isn't... Then instead of going farther it says: "Drive faulty, replace or repair." SH!T... And I'm getting a 149 "Spindle moving" alarm. Additionally there's a nice phenol smell coming from the drive...
My question is who here has used on of the repair services out there for the MagneTek and Yaskawa drives? I REALLY don't want to have to spend $1500-$2000 for a replacement unit if I can have this one repaired and have a warranty. So for any of you that has had this done, whom do you recommend and why. Additionally if you don't mind me asking, what did it cost you?
