Using Boss4 code in Boss9 machine

We have recently installed a Bridgeport Series2 with a Boss9 controller. Our toolpath program VisualMill has a Boss4 postprocessor. Is running a Boss4 postprocessor sufficient for basic machining on a Boss9 controller.

I am glad I found this forum.

    Thank You

In theory there is a compatability mode built into the BOSS 9. You can tell it to run BOSS 4 type programs. I never tried it to see how it would work. The BOSS 9 uses a decimal point in the feed rate and has many more powerful canned cycles. Also the BOSS 9 can hoild more than one program but must have a program name at the beginning and a M30 at the end. Why not get a ost or can this one be modified?

VisualMill must not get many requests for Boss9. Their response to my request for Boss9 was we have a Boss4. The Posts can be modified. If I knew what to update, I could try it myself.

    Thanks for the reply
