    3 phase steppers

    Being new here I have noticed that a lot of members are using 2 and 4 phase steppers. Is there a reason that I have not seen any 3 phase steppers in use. Is the reason cost, availability, ability to control, size or what? I'm confused. I am at the point of my parts amassing that I am looking at motors and trying to weigh the pro's and con's of all possibilities. Any ideas, views or comments... are very welcome. Thanks.

    You should stick to the standard unipolar or bipolar motors. If you get something odd-ball, you won't be able to find a controller for it a a reasonable price.
