    Engraving

Been toying with making a few aluminum parts for a controller box and I want to engrave some labeling as to what hookups go where etc, but am unable to figure out how. I have come to the conclusion I am using the wrong software. I am using TurboCad 8.2 Standard, ACE, and TurboCNC.

Do I need a special engraving software, or can I do it somehow with just a cad program?

If I need a special engraving software, are there any cheap ones out there?

    Thanks
Check out what I am working on at www.routerbitz.com!

Try exploding the text before exporting the .dxf. Some software calls it convert to vector. You should be able to do it with TurboCAD.

When you explode the text, you'll probably need to explode twice. Ace seems to like that.
I'm using Turbocad 10.1 Pro with ace for engraving.

If you are using TT fonts, then you may need to explode 3 times, then delete the centre of the letter. This should leave a nice outline which will be accepted into Ace. You could also try playing with the DXF settings in Turbocad, Ace likes R14 I think....or is is R12?! I dunno, but one type will work!

All text needs to be vectorized I have turbo cad, corel draw, photoshop, these all work great to creat the text or the whole sign as shown in my attachment. After creating it I use software to vectorize it. remember buy nice or buy twice so bobcad/cam and bobart2d and 3d.
