    Question tap size

    I need to make a part and this has a threaded hole 7/8 unef. The customer as supplied the tap but is not sure of the drill, i have searched the net for this size and have conflicting sizes from 0.812 to 0.832 / 20.62 to 21.15. Any help would be well appreciated.

    Standard formula is thread diameter (0.875") - Pitch (0.050").

    I think this is good for 70% thread

    My "ThreadPal" software calls for a hole Ø.826 to Ø.830, 70-75% thread. I recommend to anyone working with threading to invest in this simple program.
