Hi there. I recently purchased a DM 2800 benchtop mill from my employer. They bought it 15 years ago for $18,500.00. I got it at auction for $1.00 because they haven't needed it for the last ten years. It has what seems like a small problem with the limit switches. It doesn't stop when it gets to the end of its travel. Otherwise it seems to be in good working order. It has a the complete enclosure and coolant system. Also has a 10,000 rpm spindle. I'm excited about getting it going. Anyone that may have helpful info please feel free to comment.

I cleaned it up and at the same time found a 1 amp fuse that was burned out just above the oiling system. I assume that is all the fuse is for. When I tried to initialize it, it would try to keep going at the end of the X axis. I called Dyna Mechtronics in San Diego and the fellow there told me to unplug that axis from the controller card and it would skip it during startup. It did as he he said. Then I plugged it in and re-started the machine, presto it initialized just fine. It works like a dream. The thing that fascinates me is how it measures the backlash in the ball screws at startup. Typically it is around .012 mm thats only .000472" not too shabby!
