Well it finally arrived and it was the biggest hassel ever to get this thing cleared by customs as there was an unbelievable amount of duties, tax, port charges, etc etc etc to pay on the way to picking it up.

Only thing is, I have never used a CNC before and I am totally new to all this.




I am leasing a small area at a factory to do my work and got it back into Brisbane for some unloading.

Problems so far

1. I cant find "the control card" where you plug in the power and usb

2. I havent explored what software is needed, I have autocad and they sent me "type 3". Is this all I need?

Wow, a nice bit of kit!
Be very careful for wiring the steppers to the driver cards, if the wires are not screwed into the control card you'll need an ohm meter to rectify and doubly check the hookup of cable.
If not, a puff of expensive smoke could come from your new toy.
An old pentium 4 running windows XP SP2 and mach 3 will be a treat. (switch off the firewall and the powersave / screensaver)
A null modem cable from the printer port on the computer to the printer port on the driver should be correct.
Carefully read the help files in mach 3 and your machine manual.
Tuning the motors will take patience, also the limits and travel settings are a nail biter when over travelling. (expensive things can happen when crunching)
Learn cad cam, night school tafe!

It didnt come with a power cable so I dont know where to plug it in and I dont know if it came with a controller card since I cant find anywhere to plug it to the computer.

Am I suppose to buy these things?

That should be all the sofware that you need to get running, you will have to learn the Type3 as it is avery good software, you design the parts in your autocad & then take your drawing into Type3 to do your tool path/ G code for the machine control,

I think your machine is complete, just put power to the mains input, do you have the pendant, if not you may be missing some parts, open the cabinet on the side & see what is in there, everything may be packed in there.

The spec seem to say you should have everything to get running
