    save g code as

I just downloaded EMC2 and am learning the ropes.

I want to save one of the example programs to use as a starter program to play with.

I clicked save g code as
type in the name for the new program
    click save

It does not work ,just disappears, Is there something else I need to do?

Are you sure the file isn't simply misplaced ?
Try it again and make sure it's being saved in your /home/user-name directory

warning: I'm using an older version of Ubuntu and might be seeing a different file dialog box.

edit/ that file dialog box has a built-in 'gotcha'. It won't display a warning when attempting to save a file to a directory that isn't user writable. The file won't be saved in that case.
Anyone who says "It only goes together one way" has no imagination.

    Thanks for the response.

I found it! It was in documents.

It only took me about half a day to figure that out !

I have been reading up on the linux filing system, but have not made much sense of it yet.
