Question I want a minor change to my 1024.set file

I saw the information somewhere here on the forum, (and someone even posted a picture of the change).

I have tried to make this change probably over 30 times, and while I get the work offset to show up where I want it, something else will change or disappear (lose the 3D effects of the main screen or everything on other screens will have shifted)

Here is what I am wanting added to my 1024.set screen (without changing anything else) and I will gladly pay any member with the ability to do it sucessfully for doing it.

Remember, I want everything to look exactly the same. I just want to "add" this work offset display where I can easily see it without having to look up in the top row of codes.

You can PM me or email me at [email protected]

Thank-you in advance to anyone who can accomplish this for me (old eyes make it hard for me to see the codes in that upper line, this will give me an easier way to see and verify that the machine is in the right work offset)

Can you zip your 1024.set and upload it?

Don't know if it worked, but I used the attach button and uploaded a file called 1024.zip

You have a label there that says Ticker0. Do you still want that there?

OK, I looked in the manual, and you don't want Ticker, now that I know what it is.

You want to see G54,G55,...etc, right? Not offset 1,2,3...

If so, then I'll need to write a little script. How many offsets do you use? Just G54-G59?

If it is in the way get rid of it. (all it does is tell me if the emergency stop has been pushed, limit switch triggered, etc.) Most of the time there is nothing displayed there
If it can be kept and the work offset put above it, that is perfect.

If it has to go or can have it's VB coding changed to reflect the "current" work offset, (and not scroll across the screen like the ticker does) that is fine with me to.

My main thing is to get the current work offset to display in that general area. (which I can successfully do above the ticker...) I just can seem to do it without either losing the "3D" effect and separators on the screen and without throwing off display locations on other screens (really bad).

Thank-you for taking your time to help with this.. And remember, I will gladly "Pay" you for getting it to display the way I want.

    THANKS
    Mike J

Actually I will eventually be using G54-G59P253 (I make a lot of parts and have separate fixtures for each that are set in specific locations on my 1" grid base") I use my Tormach in my business and eventually hope to have it doing 80% of all my part machining.

What I have been doing is opening the 1024.set file with "MACH3machine.exe", then going to the "offsets" screen, copying the box that on that screen that would display the current work offset, then going back to either the primary or 1st screen (tried it several times different ways) and "Pasted" that box.

That works.... as far as it will display the current work offset and change when I change it. But the side effects are always different.

One of my problems is that I have tried it so many different ways, that I have lost track of what I have tried (as I got it once and still had the 3D effects correct, just the other screens had all of their labels or displays shifted to the left or right) and I can easily do it with the cut and paste without affecting the other screens... but then lose all of the 3D effects on the main screen.

Thus my frustration... I know it can be done simply, I know I am doing something wrong, but I am so frustrated (should have kept notes on each try to refer back to) because I keep trying and always end up with a working offset display but at the cost of something else not looking correct.

OK, then all I can do is have it say offset 1,2,3...
    Give me a few minutes.

Try this. Be sure to back up your original to a safe place first.

I want it to read G54 or G59P251... whatever the actual offset is (I don't put labels on them, as I keep that all in a separate spread sheet that lists the product, the fixture mounting location, and the work offsets that are being used) as I program the offset to change ( G10 G59P251 L2 ) and like to see that it has happened. The reason for this is that I may be making 10 of the same part, using the same program.... but change from part to part because each one is at a different work offset location. (I prefer this over using the G52 method)

Works... Really don't need the label (and I guess I should have said that I have been copying the "Active Work Offset" box instead of the "Current" (since the current only reflects the number for G59P180 as "180" while the "Active Work Offset" reflects it as "G59P180" which is what I want.

So, can you eliminate the label, move the box displaying the offset over to where you have the label and get it to show "active work offset" instead of "current work offset" (my error in explaining what I want)

    Thanks...

Here is a screen shot of one where I pasted the active workoff set to the main screen, but lost the 3D effects.

OK, didn't think I could do that, but poked around and figured it out.

Don't worry about it. It only took 2 minutes. I went grocery shopping in between postings.

    Well, THANK-YOU....

I have been messing with it for a long time and have a lot of "hours" in accomplishing nothing with it.

    Thanks again,

All it is is a label with the text "COSYS". Create a label, type in the text, and drag into position. It's that simple.

    Your welcome.
